The movie is called "A Quiet Place" and it shows condition of an apocalyptic world where the city is abandoned by everyone and many supplies are left behind. The producer wants the audience to have the sense of isolated. They did this by showing us how lifeless the place is by using a range of camera shots, such as close up shot - to capture the ruined street lamps signalling that it is no longer operating or taken care, long shot - to capture how deserted the city has become, and medium shot - to capture the missing people posters, where that appears to be an impact for the city. Also with static camera movements, it can show something without having any movement involved. This means that this movement is use because there is nothing moving motorically to be shown, for example people walking or riding vehicles, another way to show that the city is completely left behind.
Paragraph 1
The city condition is not only messed up but also tranquil. The filmmaker wants the audience to feel more involved and a little bit anxious with the silent as they don't know when will the real danger comes, with adding less sounds (both diegetic and non) in the scene to make it more suspenseful and making audience to produce less motion
Here is a video I made experimenting with different camera angles + movements
High Angle: The bully is presented as being more imposing and threatening than the victim, which is the other character in the scene.
Low Angle: In contrast, it symbolizes "lower ground," giving the impression that an object is weaker or small. The victim would appear fragile, defenseless, or intimidated from this angle.
Close-up shots: Mostly portrays the character's expression, here we can see both character are given close up shots of their faces, displaying their expression of determination or cowardness.
Extreme close-up: A shot that is only focused on small subject, like the eye, to show a deep-intense emotion. This shot captures a glare from the victim to create suspense, and a smirk to make audience feel relieved.
Medium shots : Both characters' expressions are visible as they perform an action. Finally, they've decided to go peaceful with each others.
Medium Shot (2) - Shows the audience the subject's actions (walking down the stairs) and facial expressions (shocked)
Tilt up/low angle - The use of the tilt up reveals a second subject while the low angle makes the subject look intimidating and superior. This makes the audience feel worried about the first subject.
Zoom in - bring in the audience closer to the subject (e.g. face), creating suspenseful scene and shows emotions (fear).
Close up Shot (2) - draws the audience's attention to the second subject's emotion (serious)
Extreme Close up (eyes) - Solely focuses on the eyes which captures the stunned look on the subject's face - which builds suspense
Medium shot - shows both subject's actions (hugging) and emotion (happy)
