WEEK 1: In this week, we review the last term media languages and theories. We've done it by playing games of multiple choice questions and some essays. We started the magazine research, especially on the front page part of the magazine.

WEEK 2: This week, we learn about Representation theory by Stuart Halls. It is a theory where the media does not reflect the actual meaning of a phenomenon or a subject, but it creates and influences meaning of the phenomenon that the media wants. This is why in some part of the world, the media offers different perspective 

WEEK 3: 
I have decided on what topic I would cover in my magazine. It would be related to my culture
  • Task
    • Analyzed two front cover in more detail, and 4 full magazine in less details
    • Took photo of the front page, content and some double page spread of my chosen magazine
    • Started an analysis on what elements
  • Problems
    • Can't decide when to start doing it because other subject teachers rammed my schedule with homeworks and group projects
  • Solutions
    • I decide to choose a genre where the object is easy to take photographed and it could be accessible as fast as possible
  • To-do list
    • Finish the analysis
    • Finish the Statement of Intent

WEEK 4:
We learn about Genre theory, proposed by Steve Neale where he stated that 

"A text must be SIMILAR enough to be recognised as a particular genre.
But it must also be DIFFERENT enough to be new and exciting. "
because it provides audiences with expectations, director with blueprints and distributor with target audiences of who will consume this media text. 

We also learn how cover pages of Batman movies and trailer (From Moana) affect what audience are being targeted. From Batman movies, Lego obviously target young kids as Lego products are generally convened as toys for kids this can be seen by their advertisement that are colorful which connote happiness and that apply to Batman: Lego movies. On the other hand, the movie "The Batman" targeted a more adult audiences.

WEEK 5:
This week we review every theory that we've learnt to prepare for our unit test discussing theory on this Friday. We review them by doing a gallery-walk style review where a person stay in a table while the other moved to other groups and then the presenter will be explaining what theory they're covering.

WEEK 6:
This week we have started our article for magazine and I still have not finished the double page analysis due to tight schedule. This week we also practice on the exam condition especially the Section A video analysis. We also discussed how media have change (old vs new media).

    • REALLY FINISHED THE DOUBLE PAGE RESEARCH
  • Problems
    • Time management really struggles me a lot as now I have some interns to do

    • Making a reminder and to-do list to keep me on track

    • Continue the article (research deeply on the topic)
    • Maybe revised the Statement of Intent and don't forget to write the progress reflection
WEEK 7:
This is the final week before we go to a semestral exam and a month of holiday. Overall, I do some of the

    • Finished every assignments you've left so you're not leftover 👎
  • Problems
    • I don't have enough reflection on each posts
    • Not finishing some assignments (Statement of Intent, and Article)
  • Solutions
    • Improved my time management
    • Improve my mindset 
  • To-do list
    • Finished reflections from each posts and Finished unfinished assignments
    • Search 10 pictures from 3 different locations
Semester 1 Reflection: This is my final week before my semestral exam next week. Which means, I would most likely do the unfinished assignment on my own time to prevent my scores being dropped lower than passing *65 as Mr Nick mentioned that last year students got C on their exam but still got B- up until A- as they did well in their blog (majority got an A). I am still struggling to overcome my procrastination but I am feeling a little bit motivated thanks to the topic I have chosen which Keris. 



SEMESTER 2 

Week 1: Today we've learn about a 3 steps of media industry starting from Production > DIstribution > Exhibition. We also continue the production of our magazine, next week we're expecting some photo shoots practice.

    • Find the location

    • Take more pictures as well as revise something that is not right that had been outlined by my teacher.
Week 2: Today we do layout tutorial and also I've done some photoshoots around the school ground to practice my photoshoot skills such as the angle, lighting, and camera stability.

    • Set a date on the photoshoot (possibly next week on Friday 26/01/2024)
  • Problem
    • I still couldn't find a photo that is suitable for my magazine covers
  • Solution
    • I will try to find a new location.

    • Finish the magazine experiment, write some reflections
Week 3:

    • Choose different photos to be used on the magazine

Week 4: In this week, we've started our critical self reflections on our magazine which will help us to outline our improvements and our weaknesses.

    • Hard time to think of a creative designs for the cover page and double page-spread

Week 5:  
  • Task
    • We did a unit test and I needed to improve my writing skills on my essay.
    • The teacher ask us to continue the magazine project, its due around 2 and half weeks.

    • It is a drag to come up with a creative front cover as I am lacking some references and inspirations to come up with. 
  • Solution
    • I would go to pinterest to find some material that can be useful as my front cover development. 
  • To-do list
    • Continue front cover development'
Week 6:

  • Task
    • Front Cover, Contents Page and Double Spread Page Development & Research
  • Problem
    • My problem is that the class time to do the project is cut by an hour due to religious manners around the school, making the street to be in traffics.
  • Solution
    • Make it as a homework and speed up every part of the magazines.
  • To-do list
    • Finish up all the designing part and start thinking of the articles.
